Alpha Omega Alpha Helen H. Glaser Student Essay Competition - Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society instituted this competition to encourage medical students to write creative narratives or scholarly essays relevant to medicine. Authors must be enrolled at medical schools with active AOA chapters but need not be members of AOA. Only one entry may be submitted by each student. Prizes: $2,000 first, $800 second and $550 third. We retrospectively reviewed a sampling of year 1, 2 and 5 portfolio essays focused on the Personal Development competency and performance milestones, written by 49 students from three different classes in a 5-year programme devoted to training physician investigators.
